Surface texture and how it relates to the form and the scale of each piece is a key factor in my work. My work is mainly created on the potter’s wheel but is rarely left fully rounded in form. I prefer to alter the round forms with manipulations, stretches or indentations which result in my work adopting a certain unpredictability, an essence of imperfection. I take inspiration from things that exhibit a natural beauty, that show the subtle signs and unique characteristics of their origin. My work celebrates the beauty of imperfection.
