‘Conversations with Friends’ is a project consisting of abstract portraits of Vlassopulos’s friends, representing each one’s character, disposition and psyche in a subjective and symbolic way. The pieces are made in defiance of the cacophony of the digital age, challenging the prevalence of one-way communication and as a celebration of friendship and the spirit of the individual. The work offers thoughts on friendship, dialogue and the importance of conversation.
