Kyra Cane’s way of making has always been to observe and seek understanding of the ceramic materials and processes she uses. Porcelain is Kyra’s medium, throwing her method of construction, and the language of marks and forms she has developed are influenced by ever changing terrains she loves.
Recently extending the boundaries of her practice in terms of scale and surface provokes a more emotional and personal experience, relative to one’s own beloved wilderness spaces, however the principal which remains at the core of Kyra’s practice is the never-ending fascination of changing fragments of earth into fine walled ceramic vessels.
