About Us

The Craft Potters Association

The Craft Potters Association of Great Britain (CPA) was established in 1958, and is the national body representing ceramic artists in the UK. Its aim is to advance and encourage the creation of fine works in ceramics, and to foster and extend the interests of the public in such objects and to promote their value in society. The CPA was founded by makers for makers and remains an artist-led organisation today, now with more than 1,800 members, from internationally recognised makers to those at the start of their careers.

If you are interested in joining the CPA either as an Associate or as a Selected Member (membership by selection) please contact membership@craftpotters.com for details or visit our website.

In addition to CAL, we currently organise two other fairs in Oxford and York.

We also run the Contemporary Ceramics Shop and Gallery right across from the British Museum in central London displaying work by our members as well as regular group and solo exhibitions in the Emmanuel Cooper Gallery.

Finally we are the publishers of Ceramic Review magazine, the UK’s foremost voice for ceramics, published continuously since 1970.
