Ian Thompson
Ian Thompson’s work is based upon close study of ceramic and painting traditions. He works primarily with the wheel and brushwork learned from many years of the ever-evolving practice of painting and throwing. Ian often works with iconography based upon a range of mythology, especially Greek, which allows him to explore ideas around the vulnerability of the human condition. He is intrigued by the dichotomy of strength and fragility of nature, and a lot of his themes are an attempt to accept and understand this relationship in life.
