Lara De Sio
Lara De Sio coil builds her pieces combining geometrical abstraction of the form to tactile and graphical characters of the surface refined with polishing or abrasive tools. Bisque fired pieces are then raku fired: the final effect, a combination of different factors as masking materials, temperature or engobe thickness, represents the basis of a continuous research, where intuition and experience embrace the unexpected.
Her formal references look both to archeology and to geology: anything time has modified, preserved and delivered. Living in Venice, a town of stones eroded by time and smoothed by water, is a daily source of inspiration.
