Fernando explores the dialogue between narrative and objects. Fernando’s work is often a 3 dimensional collage that speaks of colliding cultures. These collisions, sometimes violent, create a hybrid culture that carries with it the scars and stories of cultural intersection. The objects that survive, are replete with the history of the multiple people who created and used them. These objects are lifelines to origin stories that are often necessary for the new cultures that come out of these upheavals. Fernando borrows this into his work, thus creating an imagined history of his own choosing.
