Suleyman Saba
Suleyman Saba’s work consists of hand-thrown tableware and statement pieces that combine traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. Saba prefers to work with soft stoneware clays that are plastic and responsive on the wheel, but when fired give a stone-like finish. Part of the challenge of making functional pots lies in their relationship to the human body; the pleasure to be found in drinking from the rim of a finely thrown cup that sits comfortably in the hand. Or creating a teapot that has the perfect balance when poured.
