Micaela Schoop
Form and surface – patterns and meanings: Micaela Schoop applies meticulously hand-painted decoration to her ceramic vessels, plaques and biomorphic sculptures. Her decorative inspiration comes from global sources including ethnic pattern traditions and historical ceramics. By sensitively fusing various patterns and pottery styles she produces distinctive work which questions assumptions about cultural boundaries, identities and belonging. Adding text in form of QR and Morse codes offers Micaela a way to surreptitiously add her own commentary on current issues.
