Barry Stedman
Outside of Barry’s studio door is a small river and beyond that a field, a line of trees, a big sky, at any moment as he looks out there is drama and colour and life. The vessels Barry makes are loosely thrown and altered on the wheel, with soft red clay, draped in a thick white slip and brushed and painted with fluid, vibrant colour. They are then offered to the kiln coated in a rich transparent glaze. His intention is to create vessels that are somehow infused with their own drama, colour and life.
