Clare Palmer

My work is rooted in the personal: exploring themes of emotional impact, from upheaval to trauma.

I craft my one-off sculptures and vessels in a variety of stoneware and porcelain clays, using my two favoured techniques: slab-building with organic-textured slabs; and throwing forms to cut, join and distort.

Oxides, engobes and glaze create subtle variations of colour and tone to reflect the narratives explored through the work.
