Guilherme Férias
Guilherme Férias develops the smaller unique pieces from a solid block of clay. Working slowly in the Kurinuki technique, a time-consuming technique of removal and hollowing originating in Japan, corresponds to emptying the mind in Zen meditation. In his effectively drawn larger works, Férias follows the “talhas” of his home region in technique and form. These are amphorae used for fermenting wine. Refined by richly flowing engobes and vivid glaze gradients, the exhibits find their perfection and unique beauty in the open fire of the wood firing.
