The vessels, ceramic collages and sculptural shelves are inspired by collecting ocean plastic, geological samples and shards from the West Wales coast. The plastic objects and shards are either recycled or repurposed into small sculptures. These form foundational inspiration for the ceramic practice, transposed and translated into ceramic vessels or wall works. The making processes include extruding clay then assembling clay components, throwing vessels on the potter’s wheel deconstructing the vessel, reconstructing and applying dry / shiny glazes and native clays. The work is in essence a response to sense of place, the anthropsean and the materiality of clay and glaze.
