Landscape is pivotal to Sarah’s work, expressed in an oblique way. A distillation of her responses to the transient moments of mud and weather, sun, season and the clay in her hand.

Like the changing weather, Sarah’s approach constantly shifts as she explores shapes, colours, textures and markings.

Enduring themes emerge and repeat as she moves between making small pots, sculpture and large vessels with all that entails – the clay recycling, the tests, the failures and the mess.
