John Higgins

Inspiration comes in many guises eg. place and culture. This work is part of an ongoing theme born out of the poem Sea Fever by John Masefield. The imagery has its genesis in geology, evoking desert colours, ancient coastal rocks, and the sea. These elements continue to challenge and drive him forward along with the intervention of the spontaneous, the unexpected, and the expressive, all an on-going challenge requiring careful observation of that which happens along the way.  The work is fired up to 1150’C and uses slip and underglaze colours under a transparent glaze.
