Outside of my studio door is a small river and beyond that a field, a line of trees, a big sky, at any moment as I look out there is drama and colour and life. The vessels I make are loosely thrown and altered on the wheel, with soft red clay, draped in a thick white slip and brushed and painted with fluid, vibrant colour. They are then offered to the kiln coated in a rich transparent glaze.
My intention is to create vessels that are somehow infused with their own drama, colour and life.
