Claire Ireland
Claire Ireland makes elegant hand-built sculptural forms, collectable objects, inspired by her studio’s location in the grounds of a historical steam museum in London. Claire works with ceramic components, making structures using different clays and incorporating experimental surfaces throughout her practice. She sees the process of assemblages, akin to collage, and delights in that element of chance and how those unplanned mishaps during the making evolve into new ideas. Claire is interested in a sense of balance throughout the making process, but the final stages of combining components are crucial to a successful outcome, intrinsically the clincher.
