Claudette Forbes
Claudette’s work is deeply rooted in her life experiences as the child of Jamaican parents growing up in inner-city Bristol.
Her ceramic ware and sculptures are adorned with her illustrations – a contemporary twist on the willow pattern – which celebrate these themes.
She seeks to test interpretations of the present day whilst producing tangible objects that contain a certain beauty and references the past.
She often gathers her ideas by observing scenes in her neighbourhood. Her work is provocative and playful.
Her ‘poor cow’ collection, featuring fashion & fast food branded cows and illustrated milk bottles, has won many plaudits.
