Harriet Caslin
Harriet wishes to evoke feeling, movement and intrigue in her work. She layers pigmented porcelain into simple plaster moulds and carves the work to create tension and harmony, revealing the layers and patterns held within.
With a background in mould making for cast glass at Falmouth University, Harriet works in a modular way, casting multiples, altering and joining them together through line.
Lighting is also used in aspects of her work, creating an exaggerated and vibrant effect to what can seem quite ordinary. Her work is semi-functional and often figurative, exploring aspects, feelings and characteristics within herself.
