Ian Thompson
My work is based upon close study of ceramic and painting traditions. I work primarily with the wheel and brushwork learned from many years of the ever evolving practice of painting and throwing.
I am often working with iconography based upon a range of mythology, especially greek which allows me to explore ideas around the vulnerability of the human condition. I am intrigued by the dichotomy strength and fragility of nature and a lot my themes are an attempt to accept and understand this relationship in life.
Over the years I work to regine use of brush and thrown form.
