Jo Davies
I specialise in wheel-thrown porcelain and take inspiration from every day, functional objects to develop new designs. I take an individual approach, deliberately avoiding visually traditional forms. Instead I respond to the inherent material-qualities of porcelain, creating work that is fluid in its nature and, by taking advantage of the natural elasticity of the clay, the work also balances softness with formality to make tactile, appealing objects.
My practice includes hand-making a porcelain design range, including lighting and unique objects. I’m based in Herefordshire, where I make my work, as well as running a Teaching Studio in Walthamstow, East London.
