Judy McKenzie
Judy McKenzie discovered the process of Nerikomi, whilst studying for her MA at the RCA.
Passionate about clay’s magical properties of malleability, Nerikomi embraces everything she loves most about ceramics. From colouring the porcelain with stains and oxides, to forming patterns and creating designs. A dialogue ensues between maker and material. A design can be imposed, but the clay will distort and twist, giving rise to its own voice, creating unique patterns. Nerikomi is an ancient process but one which lends itself beautifully to reinvention. She finds the endless possibilities for creating new patterns, colour combinations and forms extremely captivating.
