The area of Devon in which I live is the site of former manganese mining. Beneath the fields there is a mineral lode that runs east to west, too lean now to be of commercial interest. But i have been a potter all my life and these things are important, so now I am thinking about Dartmoor and its minerals, from which come the oxides that I use in my work.
I hand build and throw stoneware pots, using white slips and texture to hold the energy of inlaid copper, manganese, and iron.
