Peter Bodenham

The vessels and wall works are made in response to a specific sense of site and place. Peter undertakes site specific field studies within his locality. This includes collecting ocean plastic, photographs of plants and geological samples from the Welsh coast. Objects and images collected are then transposed and translated into ceramic forms. Making processes include extruding clay through metal dies then assembling the cutup clay components. Throwing pots then deconstructing the vessel, reconstructing and applying dry and shiny glazes. The combined concepts and processes celebrate and respond to the materiality of clay / glaze and Peter’s research based practice.
