Stephanie Johnson
Stephanie’s current ceramic work reflects on the environment and surrounding landscapes where she lives in Southwest France. Since living there, Stephanie has used photography to study and document the undulating formation of the land and the traces made by human intervention. Looking deep into the landscapes, Stephanie searches for line, form and detail which, in turn, inform shape and mark-making in clay. Working with porcelain, stoneware and local foraged clay, Stephanie uses slab, pinched and coil techniques to create unique pieces inlaid with clays, slips and oxides.
