Sue Gunn

Sue Gunn’s work explores visual and conceptual parallels between the body’s inner structure and flow systems found in the natural world. She is fascinated by the ambiguity of these connections, observing how veins and arteries resemble the intricate networks of roots, rivers, and lava. A hand builder, she assembles ribbons of clay into intricate, tangled forms, evoking the complex, fragile pathways in both body and nature. Her distinctive candelabra blur the lines between sculpture and function. Characterised by highly textured and unique glazes, they are known for their organic, tactile forms which highlight a delicate balance between strength and vulnerability.
