My work consists of hand-thrown tableware and statement pieces that combine traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. I prefer to work with soft stoneware clays that are plastic and responsive on the wheel, but when fired give a stone-like finish. Part of the challenge for me of making functional pots lies in their relationship to the human body; the pleasure to be found in drinking from the rim of a finely thrown cup that sits comfortably in the hand. Or creating a teapot that has the perfect balance when poured.
